Sewing with the Girls

I bought this pattern at Walmart in the clearance section for $1.00.  I thought it would be a great beginner project.
Kyla, Lauren's friend, wanted to make the stuffed puppy dog for her doll.  Lauren wanted to make a pillow for her bed.  This is one activity I seem to have complete patience in teaching.  I thoroughly enjoyed watching them create something of their own.

Kyla made the comment that she wanted to come over more often so she can sew.  I think this would motivate Lauren to want to do it more often.  Having a friend share in the experience of learning something new always makes it that much more fun.

Home Economics

This school year Hannah is learning to knit with a loom. She is going to help make hats for the homeless for the winter.

Lauren is wanting to sew and knit.
Here she is running her elastic through the casing on her first skirt.

Lauren's finished skirt. The only thing I really assisted her with was folding over the casing and ironing. She cut her pattern, and did all the sewing. She was very pleased with her finished skirt.

Newest Sewing Adventures

Pillow case dress. Costs me all of $3.
Wasn't made from a pillow case, bought material off clearance rack at Hobby Lobby. I think in the next couple of weeks I'll check the thrift stores for some pillow cases. Maybe then it will only cost me $.25/cents.

Crocheted butterfly hair clip.

Necklace I crocheted.

This was off the clearance rack too. $4 for this one, that includes the elastic.

My 3rd Sewing Adventure

Lauren's was the same pattern as Hannah's. I just did the material opposites of each other.

I loved how these dresses turned out. The girls looked beautiful!
