Homemaker in the Making

She gets up while it is still night;  she provides food for her family...  (Proverbs 31:15)

My little homemaker in the making.  I'm not sure if she will let me cook anymore.  She has really taken a joy to cooking.

Last night she prepared Chinese fried rice and hot and sour soup.  We attempted egg rolls but making the wraps from scratch was not as easy as it sounded.

This morning she was up before the other members of the household, making breakfast.  She prepared homemade pancakes and eggs.

This evening she asked to make pizza.  She loves to make Pioneer Woman's from scratch pizza dough, you can find here http://thenoshery.com/2010/02/26/pioneer-womans-pizza-crust/.  We do substitute half the flour with fresh ground wheat.  Oh, they were so delicious!  For dessert she made no bake cookies http://allrecipes.com/recipe/unbaked-chocolate-oatmeal-cookies/detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Title&e11=unbaked%20chocolate%20oatmeal%20cookies&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page.  Our alterations: omit coconut flakes, raisins, walnuts.  Reduce sugar to 1 cup.  Cacao powder in place of cocoa powder, when we have it.  We use raw milk and peanut butter made with just peanuts.  These are always devoured real quick.

I have been taking advantage of all this cooking she is doing and planing out future weeks of school for us.  I can honestly say it has been such a blessing for me and a joy to see her want to serve our family.

Crocheted Diaper Cover and Beanie

My first crocheted diaper cover and beanie.
I made this for my cousin who is having her first baby.

The pattern was purchased from the Etsy shop Sunset Crochet.

Home Economics

This school year Hannah is learning to knit with a loom. She is going to help make hats for the homeless for the winter.

Lauren is wanting to sew and knit.
Here she is running her elastic through the casing on her first skirt.

Lauren's finished skirt. The only thing I really assisted her with was folding over the casing and ironing. She cut her pattern, and did all the sewing. She was very pleased with her finished skirt.

Hannah's Cross Stitched Butterfly

I am teaching Hannah cross stitching. This is the first one she completed with some assistance from me. She has enjoyed doing this and has chosen to cross stitch another one for daddy's Christmas gift.

Hannah's 1st Batch of Homemade Pancakes

Hannah made pancakes last week. This was her 1st attempt at making pancakes from scratch following a recipe we have. Her favorite, chocolate chip pancakes. I supervised and assisted only a few times when she had a question. How time is flying and how fast she is growing up.

Monkey Bars

This is the first recipe the kids had to follow and bake on their own. Of course, I was there to make sure the house didn't burn down.
Hannah picked the recipe from her Animal Planet Activity Book

Lauren measuring to see if she has a 9x13 pan

The girls getting all the necessary ingredients

Micah smashing the graham crackers

Hannah pressing down choc and pb chips b4 inserting pan in the oven

End result: kids loved the taste, but they didn't make what i would call a bar.

Building Hannah's Bunny Cage

Daddy, Lauren, and Micah building Hannah's bunny cage. Hannah is away at camp and will come home tomorrow. We wanted to surprise her with the new home for her bunny. We miss her so and can't wait to give her a BIG hug and kiss.
