Imperial Moth Caterpillar

It took us about two hours of research until we discovered that this is an Imperial Moth Caterpillar. We borrowed from a neighbor a 5 gallon aquarium and filled it with about 6" of soil so we can see this caterpillar turn into a moth. This type of caterpillar will burrow under the soil through the winter to pupate and will emerge a moth in the Spring.
