Cottonwood Borer

Micah found this in the backyard on the base of the Willow tree.
After researching we found that it is a Cottonwood Borer. The adults grow up to 1 - 1-1/2". We measured ours and it was 1-1/2". Larvae and adults feed on willow and poplar, with Eastern cottonwood being the most preferred. It one of the largest longhorned beetles in the US. Adults emerge from late spring to mid summer (depending on climate) and live about a month.
We even saw it poop, it was green. You may be able to see it in the picture.
