Ice Cream for Breakfast / Bananas

Ice Cream for Breakfast

I Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast
By Hannah Manley

I eat ice cream for breakfast
I’m a healthy strong boy
I eat ice cream for breakfast
And help dad at McCoy’s

I eat ice cream for breakfast
Surely, not the kind you would think
I eat ice cream for breakfast
My plate licked clean then tossed in the sink

My cone was a wedged wheat waffle
With a scrumptious scoopful of K
I say, this is starting to sound delightful
Then garnished with a brussel sprout
Definitely no way!

Instead I topped it with a berry
Next time I think I’ll try a cherry

The poem above is dedicated to some of my best friends in the world, Betsy and Philip Espinal.

We had a farm fresh egg, raw milk, and fresh ground wheat for our whole wheat waffles.

Our waffle recipe:
3 cups whole wheat
1 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp Real Salt
2 cups buttermilk
4 farm fresh eggs
1/2 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup butter

Nutrients in Bananas and the Health Benefits

The main role of Vitamin B6 in our bodies has to do with effectively regulating our metabolism. That is very important if we want to maintain a healthy weight and if we want to have enough energy to get through our day.  When we don’t have enough Vitamin B6 our mood can be very irritable. This is due to the fact that the vitamin is responsible for helping to create serotonin in the brain. This is a type of chemical that helps us to feel good. –

Vitamin C boosts your immune system and cell health and improves the absorption of other nutrients such as iron.

Manganese is necessary for bone health and metabolism. –

Dietary fiber can help you feel fuller longer and also keep your digestive processes running smoothly. –

Bananas are one of our best sources of potassium, an essential mineral for maintaining normal blood pressure, heart function, and good nerve and muscle function. A banana a day may help to prevent high blood pressure.

Quiz: What is the scoopful of K?

K is the symbol for Potassium and bananas contain this mineral.
