Snipits Week 5 / Rome to Reformation

This past week and next week we are memorizing Romans 3:23, 5:8, and 8:28.  To help the kids do this I wrote it in sections on dry erase sentence strips.  I wrote each verse in a different color, so it would make it a little easier to piece them together.  I put all three scriptures up on the wall chart and we read them aloud.  Then we would take them down, mix them up and each of the younger two would put them back on the chart in order and read aloud.  Every day all three kids would look them up in their Bible and take turns reading them.  My oldest had to memorize the verse references too.

They have also been memorizing the books of the New Testament.  Here is a video of Micah.

In History we studied the "Warring States" in ancient China, the first emperor of China/Shi Huangdi, the Terracotta Warriors, and Confucius.

For Lauren and Micah's book basket we read:

Hannah's additional reading was in Streams of Civilization Vol. 1.

MOVIES
Modern Marvels: The Great Wall of China
 China's Terracotta Warriors
David Macaulay: Roman City (to prepare for next week)

On Thursday we had some friends come over to eat Chinese Fried Rice that Hannah prepared.  The kids tried to use chopsticks, that daddy brought home.  The boys ended up stabbing their rice.

When the kids were done eating they did some map work. Here is Lauren hard at work.
