Around the World: African Culture through Folklore and Fairytales

Imbube and the Antelope
This was a name of a game that the girls had the opportunity to take part in. It is like Duck, Duck, Goose in that the imbube (Lion) chases the antelope around a circle of kids. The kick is the lion and antelope have to run around the circle on all FOURS. As the the lion chases the antelope you clap and say imbube. If the lion is close to the antelope you clap and speak quickly imbube, but if it is far behind you clap and say it slowly. (You can see Lauren in this pic)
Hannah was the antelope and she was quick! She went around so fast that she ended up on the rear of the lion. The lion was sick or not very hungry as he was really slow. The gentleman teaching the game said, "Can the antelope eat the lion???"

The kids taking a bow.

Poor Alligator Turtle. We saw him on the way home.
